2009 Suzuki Swift

For efficient, enjoyable performance that meets every driver's needs, the new Swift comes with a choice of three comprehensively upgraded engines (the 1.3-litre M13A petrol engine, the 1.5-litre M15A petrol engine, and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine) and with choice of transmissions (a five-speed manual, a five-speed Manual Transmission Automatic, and a four-speed automatic).

Peace of mind for users is always a top priority for Suzuki, so the new Swift incorporates the advanced technologies for safety and security.

Developing the body from scratch enabled the engineering team to realize an outstandingly crashworthy structure; one in which high-tensile steel and tailored blanks are used extensively to ensure lightness and strength. It also enabled the team to adopt structures (notably in the bonnet, fenders, wipers, and front bumper) that help protect pedestrians in the event of contact.

In the cabin, users are further shielded from impact forces by a collapsible steering column, leg-injury-mitigating brake and clutch pedals, front-seatbelt pretensioners and force limiters, energy absorbing trim, front airbags, and available side and curtain airbags.

And to give users even greater peace of mind, exemplary protection from theft is realized by a keyless start system.

Rolls Royce Drophead

Rolls Royce Drophead

Italian design house Pininfarina has taken a Rolls Royce and fully reskinned it create the one-off Pininfarina Hyperion. This coach-built convertible was unveiled at the Pebble Beach auto show in the United States this month.

We assume the interior is largely the same as the original car, but the windshield has been moved back by 400 mm to give the illusion of a longer bonnet.A gun rack has been fitted in front of the cabin, probably for those who shoot wild birds and animal activists, while “famed” watchmaker Girard Perregaux has crafted a special timepiece for the Hyperion that can be removed from its wrist-strap and mounted in the dashboard.

This custom car will most likely be available on special order soon, if you pay Pininfarina enough. One or two million dollars should do it.

The ‘Black Edition’ has an eight-piece body consisting of a three piece rear valance, two side skirts, a two piece front valance and a rear boot spoiler. Optional are the coolest alloy wheels we’ve seen in a long time.

The “Silver Mist” 22-inch alloys are 9.5×22 in size, and are designed by a certain Afzal Kahn. The geometric pattern is particularly unique, and does not even need chrome to stand out. These rims are, no doubt, insanely expensive.

The ‘Black Edition’ package also contains a full interior styling programme which includes a bespoke Project Kahn Luxury Leather upgrade and high gloss piano black interior fascia panels with the optional extras of either a high gloss piano black steering or a carbon-fibre finish steering wheel. Each car comes with tinted glass and a sports exhaust too. As standard the suspension is lowered by 20 mm but this can be adjusted according to the customers’ requirements electronically.

BMW GINA

BMW GINA

BMW let loose their designers to create the weirdest possible concept car, and they came up with the GINA Light Visionary Model. GINA stands for “Geometry and Functions in ‘N’ Adaptations” and the car’s single most interesting feature is its outer skin, which is made entirely out of textile fabric, pulled tightly around a frame of metal parts and carbon-fibre wires. The best part of this BMW Z4 lookalike is that it can change shape.

The skeleton of the car is controlled by electro-hydraulic devices, which move and change the shape of the car beneath the fabric skin. The headlights can be hidden or hidden by the car’s skin, and the front hood splits opens at the centre to show off the engine. The interior also follows this theme, where the circular centrally-mounted instruments only show up when required, while they are hidden the rest of the time.

The scissor-doors lift up with no exposed hinges, as the fabric wrinkles up as the doors swing open. Also, the exterior can change shape to grow a ducktail rear spoiler on demand, or expose tail-lights as much as needed. The time is near when bodykits will become obsolete.
